Have you ever played billiard but lost? Perhaps, in one way or another, you blamed the pool cue that you used for your loss, right? Possibly, you blamed its rough ends, untaught line, or that it was just a pretty heavy one for you. If you are playing in a billiard room or bar, most of the times you do not get the chance to choose what cue stick you are going to use, and you always end up settling on the one that is left behind.

The same goes with the rest of the billiard supplies that you will use when playing. If you are somebody who always visits or spends time at the billiard room or bar, it is probably time for you to buy one for yourself so that you do not always have to settle with the cue sticks available there. Then, you can stop blaming the cue stick instead of yourself.

A pool cue is one of the most essential billiard supplies. Without it, there is no such thing as billiard.

Before heading out to the market to buy one of your own, it is advised to know some helpful hints or clues that will help you in your search for your own cue stick. Remember how essential this billiard supply is, so, as much as possible, it should be the best compared to the other billiard supplies.

1.) Spending on a pool cue that costs more than $200 is way too much, especially for beginners but you should also say no to a cue that costs less than $50.
2.) Avoid purchasing your pool cues from retailers, as much as possible buy one directly from the manufacturer.
3.) Go for pool cues that are a little weighty, so that you will have the right rhythm and timing when hitting. 20 – 21 oz is enough.
4.) It is wise to know something about the brands of different pool cues, go get a book and read.
5.) If you want a pool cue that will last long in to your hands, then pick cues made of aluminum or graphite, not wood.
